Bio

Dr. Christy Sica earned her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2008. She is licensed in Rhode Island, and NY State as an Acupuncturist and Board Certified Chinese Herbalist. Christy is also certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Dr. Sica has practiced in numerous hospitals during her time at Pacific College, including NYU The Hospital for Joint Diseases, Initiative for Women with Disabilities department, and St. John’s Riverside Hospital at Yonkers, at the Drug and Alcohol detox Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Sica has been mentored under some of the world’s finest teachers, that have shown her an extraordinary extension of knowledge. She spent time in China in the summer of 2010 studying with her mentor, other students and teachers at Zhongnan University, and traveled to many temples in Yunan Provence. There she learned many traditional needle techniques, developed a deeper knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine and was able to treat in different clinics near the Universities with her mentor.

Dr. Sica spent a few years treating the US Army, Air force and Navy SEALS groups, during their parachute training courses, as well as treating other armed forces including the Swedish, British and Canadian Military. She was also a part of an acupuncture group who treated victims of Sandy Hook, treating them for trauma and post traumatic stress.

Dr. Sica specializes in pain management, sports injuries, helping athletes recover quicker from injuries, treats patients post surgery, insomnia, migraines, emotional wellbeing, women’s health and fertility. She enjoys hiking, biking, soccer, skiing/snowboarding, surfing, yoga, meditation, and lives in South Kingstown, R.I. with her husband and three children.

Dr Sica’s philosophy is based on honoring what we have within us to heal any disease, both spiritually and physically. The human mind/body is a self-healing miracle, and we have the ability to transform, and rebuild.
